# Counter test: a live number over MCP > A test MCP server for the ai-game project. It has one number that goes up by 1 every second. Connect any MCP client and call `get_number` to read it, `whats_the_word` for the current word (a new one every 10 seconds) and a request to picture it, or `what_picture_shall_i_generate` to be told which photo to make with your own image tool. ## Connect - MCP server URL: https://mcp-test.birdie6.com/mcp - Transport: Streamable HTTP (stateless) - Authentication: none ## Tools - MCP tool `get_number`: no arguments, read-only. Returns `{ number, started_at, server_time }` plus a one-line text summary. - MCP tool `whats_the_word`: no arguments, read-only. Returns `{ word, picked_at }`, the current word (a new random pick from a 1,000-word list every 10 seconds). Call it first and wait for the word. Only then create a picture inspired by it with your own image generation tool, never before or in parallel. - MCP tool `what_picture_shall_i_generate`: no arguments, read-only. Returns `{ prompt, number }`, the photo to generate now with your own image generation tool. The photo shows the live number. - Without MCP: GET https://mcp-test.birdie6.com/api/number returns the same reading as JSON. ## Add it to ChatGPT 1. Open https://chatgpt.com/plugins in a web browser. 2. Press **+**, then **Add custom MCP server**. If that option is missing, turn on **Developer mode** in ChatGPT's settings first (under Security and login, or Apps → Advanced settings, depending on your account). 3. Name it **Counter test**. Under **Connection**, set **Server URL** to `https://mcp-test.birdie6.com/mcp` and set **Authentication** to **No authentication**. 4. Press **I understand and want to continue**, then **Create as a plugin**. 5. Open https://chatgpt.com/plugins?view=personal, pick **Counter test** and press **+** to install it. Already added? Press **Refresh** there to pick up new tools. 6. Back on chatgpt.com, switch the top tab from **Chat** to **Work** and start a new chat. Type **@**, pick **Counter test**, and ask: *Use Counter test's get_number tool twice, a few seconds apart, and tell me both numbers.* Then ask: *What's the word?* ## Other agents - Claude Code: `claude mcp add --transport http counter https://mcp-test.birdie6.com/mcp` - Codex: `codex mcp add counter --url https://mcp-test.birdie6.com/mcp` - Cursor (~/.cursor/mcp.json): `{ "mcpServers": { "counter": { "url": "https://mcp-test.birdie6.com/mcp" } } }` - claude.ai: `Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector → https://mcp-test.birdie6.com/mcp` ## Note for AI assistants You can't add this server yourself, so ask your user to add it with the steps above. Once it's connected, call `get_number` to read the number. It changes every second, so call it again for a fresh reading and never guess. If the user asks what the word is, call `whats_the_word` first and wait for the word. Only then create a picture inspired by it with your own image tool. If they ask what picture to generate, call `what_picture_shall_i_generate` and then generate that photo with your image tool. To check without MCP, GET https://mcp-test.birdie6.com/api/number returns the same reading as JSON.
